Educate

Rescue, rehab, and release all happens because a bird needs rescue in the first place, usually because it is sick, injured, or orphaned. Part of our mission is to educate the public on what we can do differently to help our wild birds, preventing the need for rescue in the first place. We provide education to people of all ages and backgrounds, from preschools to assisted living homes, and from renaissance fairs to school trips.

How do we

Educate The Public?

Schools

We visit several schools from Pre-K to law schools in the area throughout the school year, including participation in the Great American Teach-In. By visiting these schools with our avian ambassadors, we can foster relationships between the next generation and our wildlife, often initiating a lifelong love for these creatures and the natural environments in which they live. Students also learn about what a non-profit is, why they can be important in our society, and how they can make a direct impact. If you want us to visit your school, please click here for more information!

Communities

We visit many community centers, including libraries, retired persons clubs, condominium association clubs, summer camps, Boy Scout and Girl Scout troop meetings, and many more! If you want to learn more about these opportunities, please click here for more information!

Field Trips

We provide on-site field trips for schools, clubs, groups, and interested public members. We love having people visit us, and our birds do too! When you are at the sanctuary, you’ll see all of our ambassadors on display, not just those who can travel to off-campus events. For more information, click on our Book Now tab!

Literature and other resources

We provide literature and other learning resources to many groups in the area, allowing them to learn on their own time through different mediums. If you’d like to collaborate with us on a way to enhance your or your student’s learning experience, click here for additional information!
